This page details the Exclusion Filters feature.

The objective of this feature is to automatically remove some log entries based on the message they contain.

SharePoint has quite a few log messages that seem to be more of use to the team at Microsoft than to application developers. The "Preserving template records" message is one example.

Manage filters
This screen shows the list of such "exclusion filters." You can add/edit/remove them.

A single filter can be a regular expression or a simple text; it can be case-sensitive or not.

Single filter Type an expression in the edit box. It is matched against a test string and the result is shown in the bottom of the window.

You can edit the test string. If a log entry was selected before coming here, its message is the test string.

These filters are persistent.
